The White Man Project
A caucasian (white) actor is hired to portray the artist 'Jean-Ulrick Désert' and offer free Art Lesson's to the public in the BRUCE New Art Foundation gallery space- Images of the Zwarte Piet, a white dutch person in black-face along side shopping bag images of two American performers in white-face hung in the gallery windows. The art lesson brochures used Édouard Manet's odalisque painting

Is a lecture delivered as part of the Re-Positionierung Lecture series at the Neue Geselschaft für bildende Kunst e.V.( NGBK / The New Society for Visual Arts) Berlin and the W.E.B. duBois Lectures of the Amerikanistik (American studies) program of Humboldt University Berlin.

Negerhosen2000
Negerhosen2000 spans many forms and materials. The artist wears German Lederhosen constructed of leather resembling caucasian skin. Initially deployed as an art-action, a photographic-record was and assembled from the public and redeployed as art-works in everyday venues such as city squares, bars, restaurants, cafes, beer-gardens , galleries and museums. This final phase of the project remains on-going.
